Beats Per Minute or BPM are used to calculate the ‘Timing‘ of a song and acts as a guide to the speed it should be played. i.e., 60 bmp = 60 counts in 1 minute = 1 beat per second.
You can practice counting the BPM with our Beat Counter below. Use your CD player, Tape Deck or Radio to play a track and use the counter and chart to work out the beats per minute. Practice tapping to the beat, get a feel for the ‘Rhythm’, work out the ‘Tempo’ & have Fun!! Easy stuff huh!
Grab some free bpm software or a metronome to download and use offline on your computer. When using the counter please note that it is not 100% accurate due to the time it takes to hit the keyboard and the current internet activity! If the counter shows % of a beat you should round it up or down depending on the music e.g., 58.988888 would be 60 bpm.
